Yes, you could use less chocolate chips.  Even 1/3 cup would cut it down and you&#039;d still get some chocolate chips.  I was thinking about using stevia in the recipe, but it doesn&#039;t give a good texture when its baked in a bar like this...it would lose the chewy-ness.  With more applesauce, you&#039;d taste it, and its not really sweet enough.  You could try less sucanat too (1/4 to 1/3 cup).  I another bar recipe that&#039;s no-bake.  Its 4 grams of sugar per bar if you want to check those out (could be even less if you omitted raisins)...http://www.busybuthealthy.com/2010/11/20/no-bake_chocolate_chip_cookie_dough_protein_bars/ ]]></description>
