Sweet n' Sour Turkey Meatballs

Baked turkey meatballs with a delicious sugar free sweet n' sour sauce.
Ingredients
For the meatballs
  • 454 g ground lean turkey (1 pound)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ cup onion, grated or chopped fine
  • ¼ cup quick oats
  • 2 egg whites (or ¼ cup carton egg whites)
For the sweet n' sour sauce
  • 1 can (14 oz or 398mL) tomato sauce (no-salt added)
  • 2 Tbsp tomato paste
  • ¼ tsp salt (omit if you use a tomato sauce with salt)
  • 15 packets stevia (or ½ cup stevia for baking or other non-sugar sweetener)
  • 4 Tbsp white vinegar
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Mix together all the ingredients for the meatballs. Roll into balls (I used a cookie scoop so each was the same size)
  3. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or sprayed with cooking spray or oil
  4. Bake meatballs for approx 20-22 minutes until done, turning once halfway through
  5. Meanwhile, make the sweet n' sour sauce
  6. Combine all the sauce ingredients in a saucepan
  7. Simmer together for 10 minutes
  8. Once meatballs are done, add the meatballs to the saucepan and toss gently to coat in the sauce, or transfer everything to a large serving dish
