Greek yogurt is drained regular yogurt. Do you mean there's a Greek yogurt that's been strained more than most Greek yogurt?

Dairy products include some natural sugar. The yogurt isn't technically sugar-free, but since most people don't think about the natural sugars, the recipe is labeled so that people who want a recipe without added sugar will find it.

I just made this with my brand new Cuisinart Automatic Frozen Yogurt maker (ICE-21).

I used well drained fat free Fage greek yogurt. The mixture was super thick and the machine stopped turning in under 10 minutes. It was hard to get the soft-serve out of the machine, it was super sticky and it was even more difficult to scoop out the way the machine is made. A lot got stuck frozen solid to the container. I wonder if my freezer is too cold (you store the machine's bowl in the freeze to make ice cream without ice).

The texture is great as soft serve. It freezes solid like a brick. The taste is vanilla creamy with a hint of cheesecake and yogurt but the flavor was much better than any frozen Greek yogurt at stores. I should spend more money on better quality vanilla.

My vanilla extract and paste are not sugar free. Cup of Fage nonfat yogurt is 9 grams sugar (carbs) and 23 grams protein (which is close to 50% daily need for protein), 10 mg cholesterol, 85 mg sodium, 25% daily need for calcium. This tastes very rich, all I can eat is half a cup.

The amount of sweetness was just a bit too sweet for us. I plant to use the rest with fresh chopped strawberry or raspberry topping.Overall pretty good start with using NuStevia in recipes. I did not taste the typical stevia cool (like in menthol) woody bitterness at all.

Great idea! Can't wait to try this . Just letting you know that you can buy individual containers of Greek yogurt that's already strained. Would save you the trouble :) I buy the Organics brand of nonfat strained Greek yogurt

I've never had Menchie's actually, so I wouldn't be able to compare. If you're using 500g tubs, you'll go through almost 2 tubs. Hope you like it :)
