5 Ways to Lose the Last 5 Pounds

Happy Happy Monday!  Do you like getting back into the routine after the weekend?  I do, well most of the time!  Today for “News, Facts & Fitness Monday”, its another post request!  Actually a few people mentioned a question in one way or another to losing the last 5 pounds.  I’ve actually got a pretty simple answer, and here are some things that work for me!

5 Ways to Lose the Last 5 Pounds

1) Look closer at your diet. It is ALWAYS the culprit.  Up your protein & lower carbs, eliminate dairy products (many people are sensitive and don’t realize it).  Cut out sugars, natural and processed.  Incorporate more veggies, especially the leafy green ones.

2) Start weighing portions. Yes, it can be a pain in the butt, but its a lot less work than calorie counting!  Measure out salad dressing with measuring spoons, cooked proteins and carbs (whole grains & cereals) with measuring cups or a scale.  Eyeballing is just that, eyeballing.  You could be totally off, and not even know it.

3) Incorporate more exercise. It doesn’t necessarily mean cardio.  Weight training burns tons of calories too, and actually is more effective at keeping weight off.  You’ll also build some muscle, which in turn, burns more calories!  If you start weight training and gain a couple pounds, don’t fret!  You may actually be losing inches, so keep track of measurements!

4) Cut back on treats. I’m all about balance, but if your really wanting to lose the last 5 lbs, you really need to clean up your diet.  So treats should be in moderation.

5) Drink more water. Not drinking enough water can cause bloating and water retention.  It takes a bit for your body to get used to more of a water intake, but it will also help keep you full, and prevent snacking on junk food.  Aim for 2-3 litres a day.
