Ok, so if you’re a chocolate lover (like me), this post is for you!
You may be seeing on the news that research is saying that chocolate is good for us. Sure, it does have some good antioxidant properties, but it doesn’t mean that we should be eating chocolate bars everyday. Chocolate (even dark chocolate) still unfortunately contains a lot of fat and sugar. The darker you get the better, but I’m much more of a milk chocolate fan than the bitter 80% dark chocolate kind of girl. I wish it were the reverse, and I’m starting to like dark chocolate more, but milk still wins my heart.
Like chocolate, red wine is also touted to be healthy, even while having 1 glass per day. Sorry, I’m not buying it. I know that if I drank a glass of wine everyday, it would totally affect my fitness level and weight/body composition negatively. If you are looking to lose weight, or improve your composition or fitness level, I recommend ditching booze all together and having it for a treat only.
But if your like me and want to keep chocolate in your diet on a regular basis, get yourself some Unsweetened Cocoa Powder. Key word being “Unsweetened”. This is one that I’ve started using more recently. I bought it at Costco. Next, I’m wanting to try Cacao Nibs or ground Cacao. Just haven’t picked any up yet as it looks quite expensive.
Rodelle Baking Cocoa.
If you can’t see the fine print, it is a Dutch Dark Cocoa. Its definitely darker than other cocoa powders I’ve used. Very rich and yummy.
Here’s the nutrition info (the best part!!!):
Per Tbsp: 30 cals, 1g fat, 4g carbs, 2g fibre. Seriously, that ROCKS!!! 1 Tbsp adds a serious amount of chocolate flavor.
But of course, given the bitterness of it, some sweetener needs to be added.
In comes my Krisda packets.
Lately, for my oatmeal, I’ve been mixing in 1 Tbsp cocoa powder and a couple packs of stevia (and water) and microwaving for a nice bowl of chocolately oatmeal.
Can’t forget the use of Unsweetened Cocoa Powder in these recipes:
Guilt Free Chocolate Peanut Butter Popcorn
No-Bake Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter Cookie Balls
Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Protein Brownie
And you CAN’T forget the recipe I posted yesterday!!!!

Now go enjoy some of these recipes and some Cocoa! 🙂
