Why I Eat Whole Foods

Happy Holidays!  Hope you all had a fabulous Christmas.  We sure did, and I’ll have a little recap of that soon…

But now I’m left feeling like this….

No, I’m not pregnant, I’m just bloated.  This is what a day or two of ‘eating off track’ does to me.  I’m talking about packaged foods, treats, wine, bread, etc.  Not overeating, this is just by eating things I don’t normally do.

This pic below was taken a few weeks ago.  I normally don’t sport a bloated belly.

So when people ask why I do I pretty good job at sticking to a healthy eating plan and workouts, its because I hate feeling like I do in the first picture. Not fun.  One of the most uncomfortable feelings out there.  Feeling all bloated and yucky is motivation for me to get to the gym and get back on plan.  While the holidays are great, and I enjoy all the food, I can’t go more than a few days eating the wrong foods, or I just feel awful and sick.  Some people feel like this all the time, yet they don’t do anything about it.  That is what I don’t understand.

Sometimes people complain about their stomach size. Many of those people probably have bloating and don’t really realize it.  Some big culprits for me that cause bloating is: wheat (gluten in general), dairy products, alcohol, packaged foods, white sugar, anything higher in sodium.  Cleaning up your diet is not only better for losing weight, you will also lose a lot of puffiness and bloat.

So there you have it.  I have my bad, yucky feeling days too.  Thankfully 95% of them are all good!  Now, time to get back at it!

Question: What do you find makes you bloated?
