A Day in the Life of What I Eat

Happy Monday!  Only 2 more sleeps till we’re off on our Disneyland/Mexico vacation!  I’ll be away from March 7 – 18th. During that time, I’ll be doing all my regular posts, and have a couple of awesome posts from guest bloggers that I know you guys will love!  A couple posts will be some quick updates and pics from our trip, and I’ll be sure to include another belly pic!

Ok, now onto the goods.  This post is a reader request! I actually get asked this question very frequently over email too. I can understand people getting curious about what people eat on a daily basis.

My eating plan has definitely been wonky lately since becoming pregnant, but I still try and eat as I did before. My only problem right now is I’m not taking in much protein is as I usually do.  I’m having a pretty big aversion to meat right now.

So…taking that into account, this is what I’d normally eat “before” becoming pregnant.

BREAKFAST

Breakfast doesn’t really vary too much to be honest. Its always protein and some sort of carb.

Protein pancake (various toppings)

or

2 slices of Udi’s Gluten Free Millet/Chia toast with 1 egg and 4-5 egg whites, scrambled.  Sometimes I’ll have various veggies in the egg scramble, sometimes veggies and a touch of goat cheese.  Depends what I’m in the mood for.

or

Oatmeal with various toppings (eg. flax, strawberry jam, almond milk) with eggs (like above)

or

Oatmeal with protein powder pudding on top, if I’m not in the mood for eggs.  I cook the oatmeal, and in a separate bowl I mix together 1 scoop of protein with almond milk until smooth and a bit runny. Then I pour over the cooked oatmeal. Note: I do not like the taste of protein powder cooked into the oatmeal, although I know that many people do that.

An example is my Elvis Oatmeal

SNACK

Mid morning I always have a snack, as I usually don’t have lunch until 1pm.

Fit Star Iso Bar – love these!

or

Almonds with a protein shake

or

1 or 2 homemade protein muffins or bars. Almost anything/everything from my cookbook except for the cookies, which I have more as a treat.

LUNCH

Lunch is usually a pretty simple meal….

Big salad with pre-cooked chicken breast and balsamic dressing (my fave)

or

Sandwich on gluten free bread

or

Soup (Kettle Cuisine or Thai Kitchen) with salad. I don’t have soup all that often, maybe once per week or every 2 weeks.

or

Leftovers from dinner

SNACK

Fruit with almonds (apple, grapefruit, strawberries, blueberries, orange)

or

Protein shake (if I didn’t have one with morning snack)

DINNER

I really do make most of the recipes on my site regularly. Pretty much everything out of the “Dinner” or “Crockpot” categories.

Depending on if I had carbs with lunch or not, I’ll usually skip additional carbs with dinner and opt for veggies on the side instead (broccoli, zucchini, grilled peppers, etc).

eg.

Peanut Butter Chicken

Turkey Meatloaf

Hope that gives you an idea of what my normal eats are!
