Favorite Find: Flax Milk

Hey everyone!  Hope you’re having a great week so far.  Its buzzing by fast for me.  You may have remember me mentioning on Facebook that I got a new fancy phone.  Its the Samsung Galaxy Note, and I’m loving it! The screen is huge.  Sadly, I recently discovered “Words with Friends” so that is taking up some extra time now! Ha!  Totally addicted!

Anywho, back to the topic at hand! Another “Favorite Find”! This was another product I sampled at the Natural Product Expo.  One of my twitter friends to me mentioned Flax Milk to me a while back, and it made me curious.  I had never tried it (or seen it in Canada for that matter).  So when I came past the booth, I had to try it!

I know there are other brands of flax milk out there, but the FlaxUSA brand was the one I happened to try.  Its sold in the US at Sams Club & Costco, and you can buy directly through their site (More details on their website)

You know me in preferring low-sugar items….so they also have an Unsweetened version in tetra pak.  I didn’t have a chance to try this one though.

How Did It Taste?

I really liked it!  Its not as thick as the almond milk I drink, but it was comparable.  It had a very slight flax taste, but I happen to love the taste of flax, so I didn’t mind it as well.

This milk would be a GREAT nut-free, soy-free option, and I’d much prefer drinking this over soy milk.

Since I can’t get it easily in Canada, I’ll stick to my almond milk for now, as I don’t need a nut-free option, but for those that do, I wanted to mention it!

The Company

What I found interesting, is at their booth, I met the Owner/President!  Her name was Stephanie, and she was the nicest lady!  She actually grows most of the flax herself on their farm and showed me a couple pictures of her flax fields!  It was really cool.  She also had some dried flax plants that she brought along.  They looked like this:

Its nice when you get to know about the history of a company too, when purchasing their product.  There’s more info about the FlaxUSA story here.

QUESTION OF THE DAY: Have you ever tried flax milk?  If not, what’s the most interesting “milk” you’ve tried?
