I don’t know anyone that hasn’t had a slurpee. I definitely had them often when I was growing up (most of the time, it was in between school and my mom didn’t know about it!). You can’t beat them in the heat of summer. But all that sugar results in the ultimate sugar crash, so I wanted to come up something that was sugar free, and didn’t contain artificial sweeteners….so here’s what I came up with!
Sugar Free Slurpees
Makes 5 cups (40 ounces)
Ingredients
2 cups plain club soda
1/2 tsp cherry (or orange, grape, lemon-lime etc) unsweetened Kool-Aid mix (the kind you’d add sugar to, NOT the sugar free one with the sweeteners already added)
3 cups ice
10 packets stevia (I used Krisda. Other options include Truvia, Stevia in the Raw, NuNaturals)
Directions
In a blender, add Kool-Aid Mix (here are the packets I’m talking about in the various flavors)
Add in club soda (not to be mistaken with tonic!), and finally ice. Blend and pour into cups!
OTHER OPTIONS:
Use your favorite sugar-free soda instead of the club soda. Zevia and Krisda Soda are both all natural soda’s sweetened with stevia. Just omit the stevia packets in the recipe and use your favorite flavored soda instead of the club soda. Many of the natural soda’s are clear, so if you want or need color added to them, use a natural food coloring, or a bit of the Kool-Aid mix (like 1/8 tsp). Just enough to color it without adding the flavor.
