As a blogger, I put things out there for everyone to see. For some, it makes me an easy target to scrutinize. Healthy is very subjective, and I realize that the recipes and ingredients I use may not be considered healthy to everyone, especially those that live a more strict approach. I addressed it on my latest blog with Huffington Post, just as a reminder that I’ve always taken a balanced approach and don’t plan on changing anytime soon.  Ok, now that that’s covered, onto the recipe!

So I think you guys know how much I love chia seeds, but what I haven’t told you is that I also love hemp seeds too. Not only are they tasty, they also contain a lot of omega 3’s, protein, fiber and healthy fats. Which seed is healthiest? In the end, they all offer different but equally good benefits, so its great to include them all in a balanced diet.

I had a big bag of hemp hearts in my cupboard (you know, the Manitoba Harvest ones sold at Costco). They’ve been sitting there, and aside from me grabbing the odd handful, the bag was still relatively full. So I wanted to make something more with them. Chocolate peanut butter hemp seed protein balls, would be a great idea I thought. Cause ya know, chocolate and peanut butter anything. #getinmybelly

Honestly, I don’t think I will ever tire of the recipes where you dump everything into a bowl, and roll into balls. Hate rolling balls? No problem! Press the mixture into an 8×8 pan and cut into 24 bars. Easy, peasy.

Like my other protein ball recipes, I keep mine stored in the freezer. They never fully harden, so they can be eaten straight out of the freezer.
