As you all know, life has certainly changed around here since we welcomed our new bundle of joy, Clara. Much to my dismay, she’s exactly 2 months today! Tears will be shed, not only by her, but by me, as time just seems to be going that much faster the second time around! Being a second-time Mom you have a lot more confidence, and it shows, even from day 1 in the hospital. Once the nurses know you’re ok and its not been your first rodeo, they put you at the end of the hall and know you’ll be ok. You don’t need the tutorial on how to change a diaper, give your baby a bath, and breastfeed. Its definitely nice being able to enjoy those first days instead of being scared out of your whits that you’re doing everything wrong.
Over the past month, I’ve been diligently trying to get my little muffin in a routine. A happy baby = a happy Mommy.
One thing that’s part of the routine is a nightly bath. I started doing this when Sienna was a baby too, and found it made a big difference in how she slept, and helped her to sleep through the night that much sooner. One thing that I was hesitant about is her skin drying out. Clara’s had very dry skin since day 1, and Sienna, even at 4 years old, frequently gets dry patches.
I was asked by Mustela to give their Dermo-Cleansing product a try. I saw that it was formulated especially for newborns, so I was totally interested in trying it…the timing was perfect! I’ve always used paraben-free stuff on the kids, especially because their skin is more sensitive. I was pleased to learn that the Dermo-Cleansing was not only paraben-free, but hypoallergenic and free of phthalates, phenoxyethanol and alcohol.
Here she is having her first bath with Mustela!
Don’t you just want to pinch that cute little double chin of hers? *love*
She’s been a BIG fan of the bath even since she was only a couple days old, when most babies scream from being cold and naked. She splashes around in there, and loves every minute. The only time she gets upset, is when its time to get out!
I cherish the days when my babies take baths in the kitchen sink, because it certainly doesn’t last very long. Clara has already started bonking her head in the sink, so I have to move her to the big tub already 🙁
Since I’ve gotten the Mustela Dermo-Cleansing, I’ve been using it every night as part of the bath-time routine. I’ve even started using it with my 4-year old!
I’ve noticed a few GREAT things about the product:
– Although its a gel, and doesn’t lather as much as regular ‘shampoo’, I find that 2 pumps will cleanse Clara’s entire body and hair
– Since I’ve started using the Dermo-Cleansing on Clara, I have not had to use any type of moisturizer after her bath. It seriously keeps her skin super soft and not dry at all
– The product doesn’t smell perfume-y, and I like it, as it keeps her natural sweet newborn smell intact…to me that beats the smell of any perfume any day. I wish I could bottle up that scent for years down the road! 🙂
