Favorite Find: New Almond Milk on the Block…

Is the week flying by or is it just me?!  Its Wednesday, so that means another “Favorite Find”!

I discovered this new almond milk when I was breezing through the refrigerated section.  Truth be known, I’m usually in the tetra-pack section buying my beloved unsweetened Almond Breeze.  FYI, even if you can’t do dairy, I would totally prefer almond milk to ANY other milk out there.  Its rich, creamy, but low calorie!  Its great to use in cooking, baking, or just about anything really.

What Is It?

Silk True Almond

Typically, I only recognized Silk for making soy-based beverages.  I guess many milk-alternative manufacturers are coming on board with the huge popularity of almond milk.  Why? The great taste, low cals, increasing number of soy allergies and its more versatile.

How It Compares to Almond Breeze

Don’t get me wrong, I still love my unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze, but I’m loving this True Almond right now, perhaps because its something different.  You know me and how I like variety!

I find it creamier than the Almond Breeze, and not sure how they do it considering its lower cals and lower fat than Almond Breeze. I also find the taste a bit more neutral, if that makes any sense.  Almost more milk-like.  The price is great too.  I picked up this 1.89L carton for $4.99. Both milks are also fortified.  True Almond also has more Vitamin D and B12.  On the other hand, Almond Breeze has more Calcium and Vitamin E.

Summary

So really, the choice is up to you!  They are both great choices!  Just thought I’d let you all know I’ve tried it, and it gets the Busy But Healthy “Stamp of Approval” !  Just be sure to get the UNSWEETENED varieties. The added sugars aren’t really necessary, and if I need to sweeten it, I use stevia!  Stayed tuned as I have yet ANOTHER almond milk brand (not mentioned here) sitting in my fridge that I’ve yet to try.  Will report back on that one!

QUESTION!  Are you an almond milk drinker?
