My Favorite Recipes of 2010

So what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t do a little review of 2010.  Can you believe that since August 2010 I’ve shared over 100 recipes?!  Some were mine, some were not, and some were re-vamps!  Among those not posted, there were fails, disappointments, and yucky outcomes.  But of course, it takes some trial and error to come up with the real gems, and those are the ones I share with all of you.  Considering that was for only half a year, imagine how many there will be in 2011!

Ok, down to business.  Dum, dum, da dum!!!!! Here it is, my ultimate…

…all time favorite recipes of the year.  It was SO hard to come up with just 10.  I had a firm 15, but managed to make some cuts.

So here we go, David Letterman style….starting with #10

10. SLOW COOKER THAI PORK (OR BEEF) STEW

I love anything Thai (as I have mentioned in previous posts) and to be perfectly honest, if it has some peanut butter, there is a good chance I’ll love it even more!  The combo of saltiness and sweetness of this dish….so YUM!

9. CALIFORNIA PIZZA

Who doesn’t love a great pizza?! I would take this over takeout ANY day. Chicken, goat cheese, pineapple, mushrooms, green onion…what’s not to love??

8. NO BAKE TURTLE PUMPKIN PIE

Ok, so this doesn’t exactly fit into the healthy category, but maybe the “healthi-er than the original” category 😉 Especially because of the frankenfood content (cool whip and sugar free caramel syrup). But this recipe will unmistakingly get two BIG thumbs up at any Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. Ask all my family!

7. ASPARAGUS, BACON & CELERY SALAD

asparagus, bacon celery salad.JPGThis is the go-to salad for your summer BBQ’s, potlucks & parties.  Quick to make and the dressing is just DELICIOUS!

6. YUMMY TURKEY MEATLOAF

Thumbnail image for yummy turkey meatloaf.JPGI had to include this one, simply because I make it so often, and I love the leftovers!  You throw everything in one bowl, then loaf pan and its done in 35 minutes!  So much better than plain chicken breasts! Not that I don’t love chicken, but sometimes ground turkey just hits the spot!

5. PUMPKIN PROTEIN BARS

These bars (from Episode 2) got GREAT reviews from people, and I make them often (stevia version).  If you have a love of pumpkin like I do, you will love these!

4. QUICK BEAN & SAUSAGE STEW

Thumbnail image for moose sausage kale white bean stew.JPGIt may not look like much, but the flavors are amazing together!  I love how it comes together in 15 minutes too.  I try not to eat sausage all that often, but when I do, I love to make this.

3. CHOCOLATE PB LAVA PROTEIN BROWNIE

In Episode 5, I confess about how I’m almost obsessed with these guilt free brownies.  I have one almost every night!  The are low carb, low sugar and sooo yummy.  My husband loves them too. Great way to get your protein before bed!

2. DATE SQUARES

Thumbnail image for Date Squares.JPG

When its a choice between chocolate or dates, I must say, for me sometimes, it can be a tough call.  These are a re-vamp of my Mom’s recipe for Matrimony Cake, from like 100 years ago! I know its what little old British ladies have with their tea.  If that’s the case…I’ll have a spot of tea with that madam. Do you think they’ll ever produce sugar free dates? I can dream can’t I??

1. HEALTHY CARROT CAKE

Now how could I not give the top spot to my all-time favorite dessert!!! As you see in Episode 9, this is the best tasting carrot cake I’ve had, including the regular super-fattening ones! I love the pineapple and walnuts!!!  Its making me drool even thinking about it!  I top it with an icing glaze made with vanilla protein powder, but if you’re feeling dangerous, you could do a cream cheese icing made with low fat cream cheese, vanilla and stevia.  I tried that with Tofutti since I don’t do dairy and it was to.die.for.

Now its the end of my fabulous list 🙁  I need a towel to sop up the drool.  Hope you enjoyed my Top 10!!!!!!!!  Would love if you shared some of your favorite recipes of 2010 on the Recipe Club Page!

Till next time!
