Pregnancy & Vacation Update

KristineBlog, Family1 Comment

Greetings all!  I haven’t done a family post in almost 2 weeks since I announced I was preggo, and there is so much to tell! I feel so behind with all the details as I was holding onto a secret for what felt like forever.

First, I’ll give you a little summary with how the pregnancy has been going thus far, then, as most of you know, we’re on vacation right now (first Disneyland, now in Mexico) with a few pics.

Belly Pic! (14 weeks last week)

I’ll have proper pics when I’m home from vacation 😉  I must say, 2nd time around the belly starts showing A LOT sooner!

How I’ve Been Feeling…

All was pretty good for the first couple weeks since getting the positive test.  I eased off the workouts right away, but I think that was due to my paranoia (considering I had a miscarriage months earlier).  At week 6, the nausea started, which to me was a good sign as I hoped this was a sign that the pregnancy would stick.  Once the all-day nausea started, so did the food aversions.  Pretty much most meat and fish seemed revolting (especially hot), and protein shakes weren’t sitting well either, so naturally my carb intake increased. I ate a lot of gluten free toast and soups. I could still handle eggs and either toast or oatmeal every morning.  Definitely started consuming way more fruit than I normally do.  Couldn’t stomach most veggies, except I’d happily eat Greek salad daily.  I cut out coffee completely, which is tough, but caffeine isn’t recommended when pregnant and I’m fairly sensitive to it. Plus it didn’t even taste good to me (too acidic).  I also have been drinking a bit of juice which I never do, as I couldn’t stomach just plain water, but now I’m able to have it again.

The smells at the gym made my stomach turn, and I’ve only been going 1-2x a week ( if that!), go on a cardio machine for 30-45 minutes (not  intense), followed by 20 minutes of lighter weights.  The rest of the time, my butt has been parked on the couch feeling sick.  Poor Brent got to hear me complain from 6 weeks to 13 weeks 😉

Some people have asked me about my fitness and eating plan while pregnant, and honestly, I don’t have one!  I just try to eat as healthy as I can, and if I’m feeling up to it that day, go to the gym or get out for a walk.  To me, pregnancy isn’t the time to set a bunch of lofty fitness goals.  I will wait until after to do that. I’d rather just take it easy and not hurt myself.

I’m 15 weeks today, and I’ve traded the all-day nausea for back pain (same exact thing happened when I was pregnant with Sienna), so I really have to be careful I don’t injure myself.  I’ve gone back to eating some more protein and less carbs now, and salads are appealing again.  So my nutrition will be closer to how it was before I was pregnant.

Like last time, I’ll keep an eye on my weight gain, and not just eat ‘whatever’.  I’m definitely not as strict, but don’t use pregnancy as an excuse to eat badly either.  Last time I gained just over 30 lbs total, so hopefully I can keep it to around the same this time around.

In other news, at 14 weeks on the dot, I felt the baby flip for the first time! I thought I was nuts thinking it was too early, but I know it wasn’t gas! Ha!  It happened about 4 times within 2 days, so that was neat.

That’s pretty much a summary of how the first trimester was!  Now onto the second!

Disneyland

Its was a really great time. Sienna had the most amazing time.  The look on her face was priceless when we first walked through the gates.  Brent’s parent’s came along with us.  I hadn’t been there in ages, so it was fun to see everything again. I couldn’t go on some of the rides being pregnant, but there’s always next year 😉

Sienna’s favorite by far was “Its a Small World”.

She also loved the tea cups and Little Mermaid ride in California Adventures.

The parade at night was also very fun…

Another highlight was getting to see all the Disney Princesses. She squealed with excitement!  We managed to get a picture of her with Sleeping Beauty, and she’s still talking about it.

Mexico

We’re in a place called San Carlos.  My aunt and uncle have a place here.  From Phoenix, AZ, it would take about 8 hours to drive here.  We flew from LA to Phoenix, then hopped on a smaller plane to Guaymas.  Its a really nice town!  We’re all staying in my aunt & uncle’s condo. It has an amazing wrap-around view from their deck…

The sunsets are unreal!

We’ve got a few more days here, so we’re just enjoying some boating, relaxing and eating yummy Mexican food.

We went to this shack of a place, but it was really good!  I had fish taco’s, but Brent had something called the Super Donkey!  This thing was massive!  It didn’t even fit on the plate, but somehow Brent managed to eat it all.

Here’s the inside…beef, shrimp and veggies.  I had a bite and it really was tasty!

So that pretty much sums up what I’ve been up to on vacation!  We leave on Sunday, then back to reality 🙁  Back to my regular posts on Monday!

QUESTION OF THE DAY:  Have you been to Mexico?  If so, where?
