Flashback Friday: No Candy For You!

KristineBlog, What I Ate WednesdayLeave a Comment

So begins another Flashback Friday!!!  So In Vancouver, we’re FULLY into fall.  Cold crisp air, orange and red leaves and thankfully a bit of sun (its Vancouver, we’re known for our rain!)  It got me thinking about a trip Brent and I took to New York ages ago.  LOVE NY in fall….so pretty!  We did the horse drawn carriage ride through central park, shopping (of course!) and some sight seeing.  My girlfriend was living there at the time, so she was our tour guide.  This trip was also monumental, as it was when I (oops, actually Brent) purchased my first Coach purse!

Fall 2003 in New York (gotta love Times Square!) Wow, we look young!

So as I mentioned last week, Brent and I are doing a 12-day detox (its DONE tomorrow), Halloween Candy was not included in the meal plan.  I can’t remember the last Halloween where I didn’t have ANY candy at all, as in, not even one piece.  I may have just set a personal record!  Last year, I did a fitness competition the day before Halloween, so I did enjoy a Halloween treat (or two).  My favorite is Snickers, or Wunderbar….so good.  So if you listened to my Halloween Treats Video, you’ll know that I don’t buy those strictly for that purpose, or I’m in trouble! Last year I stole a couple out of Sienna’s treat bag.  1 year olds can’t have nuts right? (wink!)

Food this week:

Due to the detox, it looked similar to last week.  Plenty of squash…

But, what I’ve REALLY been feeling like is my California Tortilla Pizza (my FAVE!)

We’ve both been doing pretty good up to this point.  My cravings haven’t been bad.  Brent has lost weight.  I haven’t, but I’m not trying to. I feel A LOT less bloated though, so that is a big plus!  This is the longest I’ve been without a healthy treat in a while (no flours of any kind, no sugar, not even stevia).  I just haven’t done any recipe testing!  I’ve got a couple of crockpot recipes to try, and I need to get working on the healthy Christmas cookie variations for future videos.

Halloween Recap:

So we went to a Halloween Party on the Saturday.  We used our costumes from last year, which we had intended to go out in, but we couldn’t get a babysitter for Sienna.  Brent ended up wearing his to hand out candy.  If you ever saw the movie 300, we’re the characters from that! Brent’s trying to be rough and tough (not working!).  There wasn’t much to my costume, and let me tell you, it was UNCOMFORTABLE!  I changed into casual clothes before midnight!

Sienna went as a cat (she’s got a good “MEOW”)siennahalloween.JPG

I didn’t bother getting new costumes for the dogs, as their in them all of about 10 minutes anyway.  MacGregor especially doesn’t like it, but Roxie didn’t mind hers…

Workouts:

I managed to get in a few good workouts this week.  I will note that I am in maintenance mode and trying to scale back on exercise a bit.  3 days a week, plus 1 day of yoga (can you believe that is scaling back?!)

Monday – Bootcamp workout at home gym (with Brent).  8 stations, 1 minute work, 20 seconds rest. (Leg Focus)

Tuesday – 40 minutes Stair Master + Upper Body Workout

Wednesday – OFF

Thursday – Bootcamp workout at home gym again.  Switched up the exercises again

Friday – OFF

Saturday or Sunday – Yoga

So that was how my week went!  Hope you all had a great week and are DONE with the Halloween candy!  Time to get back on track (if you need to). I’m back to cooking more exciting stuff next week so there will be plenty of food pictures! Yum! Hopefully Brent doesn’t dive into a Big Mac! lol.  I may have to hold him back.

p.s.  On that note, remember to enter the CalorieSmart Contest <<CLOSED>>(Canadians!)  You’ll love it!!
