Happy Wednesday! Hope your having a great week so far! Mine has been good! Started a new workout program this morning, kicked my butt in a good way! Also getting plenty of work done. I love when I can cross items off a big to-do list!
For today’s “Favorite Find Wednesday”, its a product that I recently found. I must say, it is delicious on protein pancakes and high protein waffles (for a treat). Chocolate and coconut are a couple of my favorite foods, so put them together in the form of a butter, and I am SOLD! Interesting enough, its also raw, organic and vegan!
Its from Artisana and its called Cacao Bliss. They’re not kidding with the BLISS part!
Ingredients: organic coconut butter, organic extra virgin coconut oil, organic agave syrup, organic cacao, organic cacao butter.
Nutrition (per 32 grams, 2 Tbsp): Cals: 177 Fat: 16g Carbs: 8g Fibre: 3g Sugars: 4g Protein: 2g Sodium: 6mg
* I would have a 1 Tbsp serving.
I also love that its naturally sweet, and in 1 Tbsp only has 2g of sugar. Can’t beat that! I got it at Choices Market’s locally, but you should be able to find it at your local health food store (in Canada). In the US its more widely available. You can always order it online through a bunch of different retailers. HERE is the list from their website.
Even though coconut is a saturated fat, its completely different from saturated fat from something like red meat. Its plant based, and actually has great benefits to the body (including fat loss). See more info in this WebMD article. Hopefully they continue to do more studies specifically on coconut oil to prove the benefits. The natural health industry is a huge believer in coconut. Here is more info from that side.
Regardless, I think its great and I incorporate it into my diet. I don’t have it every single day as I enjoy other fats from olive oil, nut butters and nuts, etc. but I LOVE it, and don’t think it should be avoided because it happens to be saturated fat.
Unfortunately, Pina Colada’s and Coconut Macaroons don’t fall under the “healthy coconut” items. Wouldn’t that be nice?!
See you Friday for another sneak peak at how my week was! FYI, it will be Week 2 of Operation Lean Out, so I will be posting my weight and measurments!
