Happy Wednesday! Hope you’re having a great week so far! Same old around here. Now that the snow is melting, we’re back on our regular routine this week. Sienna didn’t go to preschool once last week due to all the snow and the schools being closed. I’d much rather take the rain thank-you-very-much!
You may remember me announcing on Facebook that Silver Hills Bakery was going to be coming out with a couple of Gluten-Free Breads.
So, of course, I was happy to see it pop up in my local grocery stores freezer. (Save-On Foods)
They also had the “Chia” variety, but I decided to try The Mack’s Flax Gluten Free first. Here’s how I ate it, toast with my eggs…
Earth Balance on one piece, peanut butter and a touch of honey on the other.
How’d it Taste?
I really liked it!! It actually doesn’t taste as grainy as it looks. It just tasted like a hearty piece of bread. Its not like sprouted bread with all the nuts and seeds, its actually a bit more dense. I do find it takes a lot longer to toast it than my other favorite gluten free bread ( Udi’s Gluten Free Millet-Chia Bread ) for example. But no worries, I don’t mind waiting! 😉
What I Like
– It has 6 grams of fiber per slice!!! That’s a lot more than any gluten-free bread I’ve seen.
– It works slightly better for sandwiches. Yes, the slices are still smaller than traditional bread, but they are a bit bigger than the Udi’s Bread, which is quite small and not ideal for sandwich-making.
Ingredients (non-GMO vegan):
Water, organic whole sorghum*, organic whole ground chia seeds*, organic cane sugar*, organic brown flax seeds*, organic whole psyllium husks*, yeast and sea salt. *Certified Organic. May contain traces of sesame seeds.

Silver Hills are already quite famous for their sprouted breads, so you’ve probably seen their brand before.
Where to Buy?
As it looks right now, its available in Canada first (that’s a first!) at Save On Foods in the bakery freezer section, and should be in the US in the next month or two. Check their Store Locator or Facebook Page to see when its coming near you.
