Sure doesn’t feel like Monday, especially being on vacation. We’re heading back home soon and have throughly enjoyed spending the holidays with my husbands family. The only thing I’m not looking forward to is the 12 hour drive home! We may split up the trip again on the way back, but we’ll see how the roads are.
So as I mentioned last week, instead of my usual, “News, Facts & Fitness Monday”, I’d post a holiday re-cap instead! I’ve got many pictures of all the wonderful food we ate over xmas eve and xmas day!
On Christmas Eve morning, the guys had their big Omelette Off Competition. The men in this family are seriously competitive! They really step it up every time! Here were the results of the previous competition in the summer.
Here were the four omelettes they presented to us ladies, who were all judges.
Brent’s (my hubby’s) omelette, which had pesto and goat cheese. 1st Place. He was so happy to regain his title.
Brent’s brother’s dish. His was a mexican theme with avocado. 2nd Place
Brent’s Dad’s dish. Creamy cheese with carmelized onions and roasted red pepper. 3rd Place
Jeremy’s dish (Brent’s sister’s boyfriend). Veggies and herbs, but with a creative presentation! 4th Place.
Seconds after the above picture was taken, there was an omelette catastrophy. As he was getting a picture with his dish, the whole thing slid off his plate, face down onto the table!!!!
We felt bad for him, but it was pretty darn funny!!!!! LOL! It still tasted good though, we of course judged him on the ‘before’ picture!
For the rest of Christmas Eve, we just relaxed and got prepared for dinner, which was a SEAFOOD theme! It was sooo yummy. Here are a few photo’s of the dishes….
My Contributions:
Red Curry Mussels
Coconut Prawns
Some of the others…
Tuna Tartar, served with fried wontons
Scallops in a wine/butter sauce (by Brent)
Fresh Crab
Sienna hanging out before dinner. Isn’t that dress just so cute?!
Then, throughout Christmas Eve, the day before, and Christmas Day, we snacked on some of these goodies…
Marshmellow Squares (made by my Mom-in-law)
Lemon Squares
Butter Tarts
Sugar Cookies
Cupcake “Reindeer”!! My sister-in-law Serena made these. Aren’t they adorable?!?!
Christmas Morning
Sienna came downstairs and was very anxious to get into her stocking!
…as you can see, she found the Kinder Surprise right away and got to work eating the chocolate egg!!!!
MacGregor also LOVES xmas. We found him sitting like this….waiting for the go-ahead to open his stocking!
Among all her other great gifts (she got soooo spoiled!), Sienna also got a beautiful dress from her aunties, and wanted to wear it IMMEDIATELY!
Brent and I on Christmas Morning…
As you can see, Sienna wanted Daddy to wear some of her hair clips! LOL! For xmas, hubby got me a Pandora Charm bracelet with a few charms…I LOVE it!!! I also got the Cuisinart Grind & Brew Coffee Maker I`ve been wanting.
After opening gifts, we sat down to a delicious brunch!
Eggs Benedict, with crab cakes!
…and champaigne Mimosa’s!
The rest of the day, we relaxed in our pj’s, watched a couple movies and got ready for Christmas Dinner. Instead of turkey, my brother-in-law opted for something a bit less traditional….
Beef Wellington!
…a picture of a couple of traditional sides….
Mashed Potatoes
Sausage & Cornbread Stuffing. They put no cheese on ‘my side’ 😉
I made my Marinated Carrots! There was also a Spinach & Quinoa Salad.
For Dessert, I made my Turtle Pumpkin Pie
Now I’m full and ready to get back to clean eating and my good ol exercise! Going to hit the gym today to burn off some holiday calories! Then tomorrow we head back home 🙁
Sienna says good-bye, playing her favorite game–peek a boo!
See you on Wednesday where I’ll post another one of my Favorite Find’s!!! Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and will have many great memories to cherish!
