Happy Wednesday! Hope you’re all having a great week so far! I’m super busy as usual. I’m actually in negotiations with Brent this week. My goal is to stop working on my computer at 8:00pm. Being a busy working mom isn’t easy! There simply isn’t enough time in the day to get it all done and squeeze in quality time with my little one and the hubby. But I’m trying!
That is why I’m SO SO EXCITED about today’s “Favorite Find”. Its a great product to have handy in the freezer on those days where a homemade dinner is just NOT going to happen, and you don’t want to resort to takeout or super unhealthy macaroni and cheese!!!!
I first tried Kettle Cuisine at the health expo I attended in April. They were demo’ing their Three Bean Chili at the time. I tried it, and it tasted GOOD!
I took a closer look at their display and saw that all their soups/stews were GLUTEN FREE! Score! Plus, all of them except the Clam Chowder were DAIRY FREE! Another bonus! Now, what I was most interested in (and what the biggest concern is in frozen/pre-packaged food) is SODIUM!!! For the entire bowl, most were between 450mg and 550mg. Not too bad!!!!
Have you ever looked at the label of a Campbell’s Soup can, or one of those “Healthy” Frozen Dinners??? The list of ingredients is HUGE, with a bunch of stuff you can’t pronounce! Not to mention the sodium level being riduculous!!!! I also notice they add a lot of sugar, wheat and other fillers.
I told them at the show that I really liked their product, and I would be interested in trying more! So we were in touch over email, and they sent me the whole line to try….
So for the past couple of weeks, Brent and I have been going through them and tasting them all! I can honestly say, they are all GREAT! There isn’t one that we tried and didn’t like! The only warning is, the Clam Chowder is a higher in fat (17g/bowl) but the rest are between 3-9 grams per bowl.
Here is the label of the Chili I initially tried (vegetarian)
If your wondering about the Sugar content….tomatoes are naturally higher in sugar. They don’t add any! (which I love too!)
The Chicken Noodle Soup is made with rice noodles!!!
This one is super low calorie!!!!
140 calories, 3 g fat, 540mg sodium, 15g carbs, 14g protein. Pretty dang good if you ask me, for a frozen meal!!!! I like when the ingredient list is SHORT like these…..they don’t add all the unnessessary “junk”.
So of course you know that whole food is best, but I DO understand that sometimes a product like this can come in handy on those extra CRAZY days.
I would describe them as a very HOMEMADE taste. They all tasted like I could have made them myself! Not the typical “frozen soup/chili” taste at all!
Check out Kettle Cuisine to look at more of their products and philosophy. Check out their Where To Buy page to find a retail place near you that carries them.
They are a US company, but have LOTS of distribution in US & Canada. So check it out!!!!
So, there you go! Now that I’m all out, I need to go get me some more!!!
