I’ve been pondering for a while about coming up with a new theme for Friday’s posts. While the “Flashback Friday” idea is still fun, I’m come to the conclusion that I’ll never be a documentary type blogger. I don’t have time to take pictures of all the meals I’ve had everyday, nor do I document everything I’ve done in the week. Lets face it, for those type of posts, photos are needed, or they are just plain boring!! My life is pretty typical. I work, my little one goes to pre-school. I spend a lot of time doing regular day-to-day activities. I still like to post things that are going on, holidays and pictures when I have them, I just find its never a consistent week-to-week thing. So instead, I’ll add in personal updates to my regular posts.
Having said that, we (hubby even had input!) thought about a new theme. “5 Favorite Friday”! Every Friday, I’ll post 5 of my favorite things. Could be food, fashion, life, fitness or completely random! You’ll still see my “Favorite Find Wednesday” which is all about a new favorite product I’ve found, so that won’t change.
I hope you’ll enjoy the new format for Friday and find it fun and easy to read.
Considering I’m a new Tastemaker at SkinnyScoop….
….its a lot of what’s on their site too (I LOVE lists!) Hopefully you’ll also get to know me even better – if you’re not annoyed of me by now 😉 . Maybe it will give you some new ideas of things to try. My motto is: variety is the spice of life! Especially when it comes to health. Keeps you motivated!
So here’s today’s 5 Favorite!
5 Favorite Ways to Unwind
I admit, I can be high strung. I often don’t take time to relax. I’m sure any busy Mom can relate. Sometimes things just need to get done, and our relaxation time gets pushed to the back of our mind. I’m trying to do a better job of taking some time in the evening to relax, and these are my Top 5 favorite relaxation activities 🙂
1) Vegging out in front of the TV
We’re seriously into some of the cable shows: Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Boardwalk Empire, How to Make it in America, True Blood. We’re also really into the new season of Survivor! Who else it watching?
2) Getting a massage
I don’t get to do this nearly enough! I used to do it regularly pre-child, but its another thing that goes on the back-burner! I’m definitely going for a facial before x-mas! Need to make an appointment asap. I’m embarrassed to admit I have a spa gift certificate from over 1 year ago that I still haven’t used!
3) Drinking a hot beverage
Aside from herbal tea, hot chocolate is my other favorite evening beverage. Here’s a sugar-free & low cal version! 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, 10 drops of stevia, top up the rest with boiling water. Voila!
4) Curling up with a good magazine or cookbook
I recently got this cookbook about baking with coconut flour, and I’m anxious to do some experimenting! Why coconut flour? I like that its low-carb and gluten free!
5) Evenings out with the hubby
Date night! It doesn’t happen nearly enough, but we want to try and get in a routine of doing it once per month. Do you do regular date nights? Do you find it hard to commit to?
See ya Monday! Don’t forget to Enter the Barlean’s Contest if you haven’t already! It ends this Monday!
PS. Would love your feedback on whether you like the new post!
